Africa poised for economic destruction
I recently read that a group of high powered US officials is signaling that Washington wants to turn a controversial programme, giving poor African nations partial access to U.S. markets into a full-fledged free trade agreement, that would open Africa's economy to U.S. corporations.
I instantly reflected on a book thats on the agenda to read, titled Confessions of an Economic Hit Man where it describes how John Perkins a highly respected member of the international banking community, helped the U.S. cheat poor countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars by lending them more money than they could possibly repay and then take over their economies.
In a speech to the forum, the Senegalese minister of foreign affairs, Cheikh Tidiane Gaudio, quoted President Abdoulaye Wade as saying, "Africa is ready for free trade, but we prefer fair trade above all."Read the full Story
