Blacks are Fleeing from New York in Droves
According to the NewYork Times Blacks are leaving the big apple, in a big way. Most blacks are leaving for economic reasons, 7 in 10 black people who are moving, leave the region altogether. That does'nt surprise me, with half of the black males unemployed in NewYork, I would leave!
Another issue is the high cost of living Jacqueline Dowdell moved to North Carolina last year from Hamilton Heights in Upper Manhattan in search of a lower cost of living."It was a difficult decision, but it was a financial decision," said Ms. Dowdell, 39, adding that the move also gave her time to research her family's roots in Virginia.
"I just continued to spend so much money trying to live without thinking about the future," she said. "I was focused on surviving, and I wanted to make a commitment to more quality of life."

I heard the unemployment rate for blacks are 79%. Something is seriously wrong for black people in this country...
Wow!is it that High!!? That just confirms we have to Unite, and do something for self,otherwise we will self-destruct we (as black People) have to look at our situation as a whole and start dealing with it?? We have to set up something new, different for our people,this system does not work for us...
Wow! With an unemployment climate like this, we could end up crammed together on a reservation or something.
I can't believe these statistics.
I think a small solution would be to recirculate are scrill in the Black community. We need to support our family businesses so our families can survive all around us.

@K.marcelous Yeah I agree we have to unite,thats the only solution to our delima I live in seattle, and I see on a daily how important uninty is the asians are a perfect examples their dollar goes around the community 7 times before it leaves, compared to blacks,, it does'nt make it around 1 time!!
I meant to say the 79% unemployment rate is only in New York. In the rest of the country it is not that high for black.
In Detroit, they are proposing a different plan. From what I was told, they have decided to declare Blacks as the majority and Whites as the minority. This means the set asides (~ 5 - 10% of the resources) will go to the minority white population and Blacks will control the rest. This is only the beginning as they are going to implement the plan from Claud Anderson's powernomics book.
I know Detroit was trying to create an African Town, or a retail and business plaza for blacks, but it fell through.
O: I think it may be back on the table. I just heard someone talking about it ~ 2 wks ago and I met some of the investors.
