The Power of Unity

When I see the Hispanics come out in Droves to protest the right to live in the land that was once theirs. I see a people that have become a part of this economy taking on jobs that blacks are to proud to do, but the unity of a little becomes a lot so their thriving in America, the other day I was at the store and notice two brand new trucks fully equipped with all the gear occupied by Hispanics, I thought that’s not a bad gig to make 200,000 + a year owning and operating your own lawn care service.

I don't believe these are jobs Blacks won't do. I think these are jobs the employers are unwilling to pay livable wages. I also see this whole immigration saga differently. I think the Mexicans are on the same road we are on. They think they have gained and it will be taken away with a vengeance. All they have to do is look what happened to African Americans and our civil rights movement. As a group, we haven’t made any gains since slavery ended.

Yeah I agree, however the point here is unity, because even with a little unified there able to do a lot, now I can speak for what I see here in Wa State. The Mexicans here are home owners, business owners, on a middle to upper class level. The migrant work is what they initially do, when the first enter here, but their unity and organization takes them to new heights, which allows them to become home owners, as well as business owners in a short period of time. Unity is the key.

But, you must admit, we were unified once. We even made economic gains that were bombed or burned. In Chicago, along a certain segment of the Black community (a few short years ago) we had businesses that were all destroyed by whites. You see - it takes more than unity for black people to succeed. We have unwritten laws that are preventing us from succeeding. Our insurances are too high, we are given high mortgage rates. We have more leaders in politics than ever before and yet we haven’t made any real gains. There is more to our story than just plain unity. Now, there has to be a reason that this society is letting the Mexican unify. The Mexican don’t have any real power outside of what is allowed for them to have.

I agree and disagree. Yes, I can see that blacks have a lot more obstacles to overcome and that Mexicans have it a lot easier with regard to treatment from whites -which isn't particularly surprising as they are physically more similar to whites. However, I still feel that black people could start becoming more unified by putting more emphasis on preserving and building black institutions and less emphasis on integration. It is a very complex issue though and I acknowledge there are other factors involved - I touch on this topic on my posts on white oriented black people, blacks helping other blacks and black conscious communities.

A wise man once said our unity is more powerful than an atomic bomb. Do you know what determines the different categories of a hurricane? The degrees of organization, the more organized (unified) the more powerful and destructive it becomes destroying all obstacles in the way. Jews, Asians and Mexicans and all other nationalities come to the US not concerned about Democrats or Republicans. first and foremost their unified for the good of their people, however all the above ethnic groups are bound together by their language culture religion and God, that’s the common denominator that bounds them together as one. That’s our problem as black people we have no culture that binds us together we were robbed of our cultural fiber and unifying now is almost impossible, not to mention three hundred years of Willie lynch bag of tricks.

rumination;

I believe that the mainstream have allowed to many Latino into the country and if they are organized to vote and support an agenda by African-Americans the United States could be in big trouble.

Credo, what do you mean, exactly? A Black-Latino alliance could be a great thing ... although perhaps I am naive to think that such an alliance might give us better foreign policy, environmental policy, education policy, etc., than what we have now.

Realist, you say Mexicans don't suffer as much discrimination than African-Americans, but I am not sure that is true. Latinos in general may not, especially in areas where many Latinos are middle class (or yet more elite). However, I have seen some pretty horrible things as regards discrimination against Mexicans...

In the United States, the interest that are maintained support raced white males.

Until electorate power is demonstrated among raced white that power can shift with alliance between the different group, our voices will never be heard.
